The Octavio embedded application servers are based on a mid-performance PC/104 form factor single board computers combining a low power, highly integrated CPU with Diamond Systems' renowned high-accuracy data acquisition circuitry on a single board. Octavio servers are powered by either an integrated Athena II (OCTAVIO-ATHM) or Helios (OCTAVIO-HLV) single board computer.
Octavio systems come with 256MB of soldered DRAM for increased resistance to shock and vibration. They also have a solid state IDE flashdisk pre-loaded with a bootable Linux image and Diamond Systems' Universal Driver data acquisition programming software.
Octavio incorporates advanced features such as four USB ports, a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface, four serial ports, VGA graphics, and PS/2 keyboard and mouse interfaces.
The Octavio enclosure is compact, light weight, and rugged. All system I/O is brought out to the front in the form of industry standard connectors. The internal structure of the enclosure eliminates most internal cables, improving reliability of the system.
All Octavio servers are extremely rugged and have an operating temperature range of -40ºC to +85ºC.
The Corona SUMIT-ISM Communications module features a WiFi card in the SUMIT-ISM Type I form factor. The product contains a WiFi LAN card connected via a mini-PCI socket, two 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports if supported by the host system, a socket for a 2.5" SATA SSD card, an SDVO to VGA converter, and both a SUMIT-A connector and a PC/104 (ISA) connector for expansion. Click here for more information on the SUMIT industry standard.
The WiFi card is a dual channel/dual antenna mini-PCI IEEE 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN that supports up to 108Mbps transmit and receive rates. Its average power is up to 200mW with peak power up to 600mW.
The on-board dual 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports provide a high speed option for communication with remote hosts.
The SDVO to VGA converter is designed to accept the SDVO output from Diamond's Aurora single board computer and convert it to an analog VGA output.
On the bottom side of the module is a mounting location for an add-on 2.5" SATA solid state flashdisk (SSD). This can be used for data storage before off-loading to a host system either through one of the stackable expansion options or the Ethernet port. Diamond's enclosure-less SSD simplifies integration and reduces size, weight, power and cost.
Corona was designed with outdoor applications in mind. It is ideal for access point applications or a wide range of other embedded computing applications. Extended temperature operation of -40°C to +85°C is tested and guaranteed. The mini-PCI wireless module mounts securely to the carrier through a standoff and screw.
Corona has both SUMIT-A and PC/104 (ISA) stackthrough expandability. Therefore it can be used in embedded computing systems with legacy PC/104 stacks, as well as new SUMIT based architectures.
